Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Landscape, Nature, Photographers
Our 72nd featured photographer is emerging talent and photographic sensation Fadil Basymeleh! If many photographers have a distinctive ‘look’ about their work, well Fadil’s images are wondrously dreamy. His beautiful sunsets, rich warm tones and enchanting landscapes all speak of the great love Fadil has for his homeland! Yes, here is one artist to keep your eye on for Fadil’s landscapes are without doubt stunningly beautiful!
“Hi, my name is Fadil Basymeleh. I am Indonesian and currently live on exotic Lombok island. Lombok is located next to Bali island.
Lombok’s natural beauty gave me my first interest in landscape photography. My experience using digital cameras began in 2002. My first time using a digital SLR was in 2007 with the Canon 30D, then in 2008 I switched to the Canon 1Ds Mark III.
Since then I have seriously deepened my knowledge of photography. I like to tour the beaches on the island of Lombok to take photos.
My dream is that one day I will be able to open a photo gallery on the island and make a book containing photographs of it’s famous beaches”.
Best Regards
Fadil Basymeleh

Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Architecture, Landscape, Photographers, Urban
If your eyes are the windows to your soul then looking through the images of our 71st featured photographer, we may see something of the artist within! Yen Baet‘s landscapes are generally dawn or sunsets ablaze with color! Her rich experience drawn from her travels and professional ability has led Yen to incorporate a sense of wonder and beauty in all her images that speak of her deep sensitivity and artistic nature!
ABOUT ME
“I have not been a photographer for a long time but I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. To create and interpret something born of the imagination is something that I strive for. That’s the reason why I fell in love with photography easily; I knew the possibilities of being creative are endless.
I am a self-taught photographer who spent countless hours poring into reference books and online materials. Equipped with the new knowledge that I had, I ventured into the world of photography with newfound enthusiasm.
Although not formally trained in photography, my experience in other forms of creative media have honed my artistic vision. A writer with a degree in English, I have been published in local magazines and newspapers in the Philippines and Japan. I have also created and designed various types of literature and have prior experience in website and graphic design.
I consider myself a transient and have enjoyed being one, having moved from place to place several times since I was born.
I was born and raised in the Philippines, immigrated to the US, lived in Japan for 7 years, and in Germany for 3 years. I am now based in the U.K.
Generally speaking, I take pictures of anything under the sun, but it’s the long exposures and night photography that really drew me into the craft. A good part of my portfolio is dedicated to nightscapes, mostly from my favorite time of day: the blue hour. I am at my happiest moment as a photographer during this time of day.
*My photo of Hallstatt Austria – “Rainy Day in Hallstatt” – is one of the 6 finalists in the National Geographic Exceptional Experiences Photo Contest. Winner will be determined by public voting which will start on February 10. Please check back on this date. Your vote is very much appreciated”!

Johnny Myreng Henriksen, the magic happens with his creative shooting!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Landscape, Macro, Nature, Photographers
What makes an outstanding photographer different from the rest? Anyone can take a snapshot on their vacation, but it takes a true artist to capture the scene! Our 52nd featured photographer is Johnny Myreng Henriksen, a talented photographer from Norway known on flickr as simply ~~~johnny~~~. Johnny’s photos don’t just come from his technical skill….be it lighting, angle, or crop johnny makes the magic happen with his creative shooting! Well, if you don’t already know johnny visiting his photostream is a definite MUST!
Hi everyone:)
my name is Johnny and i come from the north of Norway, a city called Harstad where i have lived almost my entire life:)
Started taking pictures in may 2009, so you can call me a rookie:)
started out with a Nikon d40 and switched to Canon EOS 5D Mark ll in February 2010. and that was a hell of an upgrade I’ll tell you that:)
What kind of pictures I like to take and process? Almost everything, but I have to say I prefer landscapes and seascapes:) but I like to experiment with different styles and different processing techniques:) I use kinda strong and vivid colors, sometimes a bit much but we live in a colorful world and that may reflect in my pictures:)
My Photoshop skills are almost completely self taught and I also use some plug-ins Nik software amongst others:)
People doing the same over and over must get bored lol:)) no just kidding, it’s just me:) I often make several pictures from the same shot and you probably will see a lot of variations of the same shot:)
recently I have come to like both macros and B&W shots:)
Well well thanks a lot for taking the time to view this feature and there is a little collection of my favorite shots so far:)
I wish you a wonderful day ahead:)
cheers
Johnny

A world renowned Spanish composer with a passion for photography! Introducing Martin Zalba Ibáñez!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under IR, Landscape, Night, Photographers, Portrait, Still life, Urban
Extraordinary musician, extraordinary photographer! Indeed Martin Zalba Ibáñez is no newcomer to the arts! A world renowned Spanish composer with a passion for photography, Martin is sensitively gifted with a taste for the beautiful! Amazingly, this talented composer who has received world acclaim for his works, describes himself simply as a “professional composer (see his website!) that is a lover of photography”!
About me:
Born in Pamplona (Spain) in 1958, I am a Spanish composer amateur photographer.
I am interested in all types of photography, especially night photography, landscapes, urban photography, wildlife, portraits, still life and infrared photography.
AGORA GALLERY (New York)
Both a classical music composer and a renowned photographer, Spanish artist Martin Zalba Ibáñez merges his experience in these mediums to create stunning photographs that depict breathtaking vistas and yet so much more. The influence of music drives his compositions, as he strives for harmony of color, rhythm of perspective, melody of framing, orchestration of processing, and the counterpoints of shadow and light. His photographs are digital and processed via computer, giving him a versatility that allows him to infuse his own particular style into each image.
As a result, his landscapes are surreal and otherworldly, allowing the viewer a glimpse into magical vistas where virtually anything is possible. Stark geographical features are set against a brilliance of color and light that implies limitless space and potential. For Ibáñez, ?the soul of light . . . the sound of the shadows . . . the distance of color,? are the aspects he seeks to uncover in his photographs and share with the world.
The incredible photographs of Martin Zalba:

Macrophotography, The amazing world of Andiyan Lufti!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Macro, Photographers
As our 31th featured photographer the Hall of Fame proudly presents a young and talented sensation in the world of macrophotography, Andiyan Lufti! Macrophotography as you all know, is a popular style of photography art today and Andiyan’s images, so bright and vivid with a perfect focus and magical bokeh-like effects will assure you a brilliant portofolio that all will enjoy!
“I’m Indonesian …Photography for me is just a hobby but it is unbelievably giving me the color in my life. I specialize in nature macro photography. With macro photography, we can magnify the most tiny details in the world around us. These photographs reveal a universe all it’s own which is not normally apparent or at least barely visible to the human eye but with the use of a Macro Lens it is just a click away from discovering this marvelous, untapped macrocosm! Good equipment and techniques are of course needed for making well-lit images.
With macrophotography I am more grateful to the greatness of God; something dirty and even disgusting turns out as something amazing … something small or overlooked becomes a miracle!
I do my photo work in the morning when insect activities like eating, drinking, intimate etc.are more frequent and the movement is not so nimble making it much easier to be photographed. The many wonders that I find in the Insect world makes me only love it all the more!
I should say that macrophotography is not only about details, it’s much more than that! There should be an interest, something that captures your attention and that’s packed with a story! So whoever sees the image will get that important first impression, that impact! Watch the angle, DOF and composition for more beautiful macro photos!
Last … love your work with all your heart, you would get a miracle there.
greetings macromania!’
Here is a collection of 18 amazing macroshots; the magic of Andiyan Lufti!

From musician to topnotch photographer! Meet the multi talented Tom Grubbe!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Landscape, Photographers
The Hall of Fame is proud to present as our 70th feature an exceptionally talented photographer with an extraordinary feel for landscapes! Tom Grubbe (pronounced groobie) posseses that rare ability to draw out such emotion and depth of feeling in his images that we feel not mere spectators but a part of the moment! Congratulations Tom, on a splendid portfolio and looking forward to much more creative gems from you!
“…I started photography in December of 1997 shooting 35mm slide film but moved to the Pentax 67II medium format system since 2000. As of April 2009 I retired my Pentax 67II for a Canon 5D Mark II as my primary setup. Shooting digitally has opened up a whole new world for me and I’m enjoying it to the fullest.
Most of the landscapes I shoot are in the most beautiful areas of California but I do venture outside the area when time and expense permits. One of the great things about California is that every possible kind of climate is within driving distance. So whether I want to shoot the mountains, deserts, oceans, grasslands or whatever -it’s only a few hours’ drive away. Sometimes just around the corner.
I don’t actively look to shoot iconic photos of well known scenes although I have a few of them. I would rather venture off on my own and discover new and original compositions wherever I can. I see that as a challenge and strive to shoot a scene in new and creative ways….”
Here are my top 18 Images according to me.

Incredible Peter Maris, bringing us closer to the amazing wonders of the wild!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Nature, Photographers
Wildlife photography is a field that requires specific elements of knowledge, patience and stealth. Our 69th featured artist, Peter Maris, is an amazing photographer specializing in just this field! With a sensitive feel for his subjects that comes from his deep love of nature, Peter dedicates his time and talent to bring us closer to the incredible wonders of the wild!

“I am an engineer by profession, but spend all my spare time on wildlife and nature photography. Living in the most crowded part of The Netherlands is not the most ideal location for a nature photographer, but luckily there are a few nature reserves close to my home.
Since 2009 I have spend most of my time in a 3000 hectare nature reserve along the coast. It has a large population of Fallow Deer, Roe Deer, Foxes and birds. Because the reserve is just a short drive from my house I can spend a lot time on a subject and keep returning to get a good understanding of their behavior.
Mammals are my biggest passion and they get the most attention. In spring my attention usually shifts to Grebe’s and waders. It is great to see how much time and devotion those birds have for nurturing their young.
Plus lying along the water’s edge in the spring sun is not too bad at all; sometimes nature photography can be quite relaxing. Other times you have to walk through deep snow, endure rain and cold just to get a glimpse of an animal. Unsure if you will return with the image you had in mind. This uncertainty is something I like; you never know what will happen.
