Artist’s statement:

I’ve always been fascinated by photographs and the way a great one is able transport our minds to a place and time we’d never visit. When I pursued it for myself I quickly realized that good pictures do not just happen by accident or at convenient times. They are usually the result of hard work, dedication and a bit of luck.

I strive for scenes which are not just average moments that document nature or travel but to capture the slivers of time that inspire us to hold those places dear. My goal is to create images that represent nature in a way that elevates its status and remains truthful to the subject. For that reason it is important to me that the image is true to what was experienced and I never add or subtract significant elements.

One of the many things I enjoy about photography is the endless process of evolution in terms of not only technical skills but one’s knowledge of the subject that goes beyond aesthetics. This includes knowing when to push forward, where to be when light changes and how to react when things unfold. Years of knowledge culminate in brief moments in which the image is taken and even if you are prepared quality images can still be elusive.

Bringing back an image that represents what I’ve experienced and being pushed into those experiences as part of the pursuit adds another dimension of purpose to my life and my passion for the craft only grows stronger.
