Our 63rd featured artist can be described as a regular gal with a passion for photography! Anne-Marie known on flickr as bleuet / Anne-Marie, is an artist that draws the viewer into her images and captivates their senses with a finesse of color and style. A perfect source of inspiration, this is one artist definitely not to be missed.
“Hello, my name is Anne-Marie. I live between Bordeaux and the Arcachon Basin in South West of France.
I bought my first camera (Minolta XG-M) with my first salary and it’s still in order. I really became a serial shooter with my first digital camera 6 years ago.
Seascapes are my favorite subjects. I adore walking by the ocean or the Arcachon Basin at sunset or at the blue hour : it makes me feel optimistic. I also love shooting cityscapes at night because of the atmosphere ; animals (especially funny birds), children…
A dear friend of mine taught me how to take long exposures and I’m now playing with my ND filters like a kid with a toy.
I would like to try other subjects like misty landscapes, portraits in B&W and chiaroscuro, architecture… The most difficult for me is to take candid shots because it seems to me I’m steeling a bit of people’s life… but I want to learn that too.
Photo is a fantastic way to meet people you would never have heard of, and to discover other ways of living and thinking. I’m always amazed when I wander in this group’s fantastic images : they make me dream, learn and want to progress. Thank you all for that !

Magda Indigo is a talented and versatile photographer who does not fit into just one little box!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Conceptual, Nature, Photographers, Portrait, Urban
Our 16th feature is a talented and versatile photographer who does not fit into just one little box.
Magda Indigo talks about herself and photography:
“I am a Belgian, born in Bruges, Flanders, who happily lives in the UK with my husband, fellow photographer Paul Indigo. Contrary to what many think: I AM NOT A FLOWER PHOTOGRAPHER! Just A photographer, a passionate and intuitive photographer, this on here is my fun, my freedom.
Photography is a way of life for me. Being creative is not a choice… it is an urge in me…. I can forget the world, time, food, drink or sleep when I am in that mode…
Photography for me is ALL about light, creativity, beauty and EMOTION, not only technical prowess, a ‘perfect’ image without creativity or emotion is just a ‘picture’.
Knowledge comes mostly with time, curiosity, a hunger for learning and lots of experimenting. And now in the digital age, many of the ‘skills’ and attributes seem to have been forgotten! It took me over 15 years to achieve the image that was behind my eyes and see it in front of them!!!
I take my studio black-background shots on Hasselblad, digital back, with extension tubes, lot of different light-sources, our Godard light-boxes (I do not use them here as flash-lights), snouts, honeycomb, flags, cutters and gobos, reflectors of all kinds, I mean, a piece of white foam, a sheet of silver, they all reflect. It DOES NOT HAVE TO BE EXPENSIVE… Be creative even there! I prefer comp made IN CAMERA! My camera HAS to be my friend from day one (same for the lenses!), I MUST like the feel of it, not too light for more stability. Do not like tripods (except in studio), my main dislike is FLASH. We all have our preferences but if you are a good photographer who has learned the skill and knows what he’s doing… you can do EVERYTHING! If it is to help young photographers, I think this will be representative.
If you have any questions just write and ask! We like to help. I’m a humble and quite shy person, however the facts are, because we are pro’s, we have, over the years, accumulated equipment and knowledge that most ‘enthusiasts” do not have access to (and don’t need to). Regards, Magda” (*_*)

Breathtaking ocean landscapes and visually stunning compositions, meet photographer Louise Denton!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Conceptual, Landscape, Photomanipulation, Still life
Some photographers seem to freeze, slow, or speed up time while others intrigue and twist our imagination to new and imaginative concepts. Our 148th featured artist Louise Denton uses various photography techniques to take her imagery into entirely new dimensions! In fact a brief look through Louise’s photostream and you will be treated to a variety of styles, color, breathtaking ocean landscapes and visually stunning compositions! Enough said! For a taste of Louise’s artistry here is a visual guide to 18 of her most awesome captures!
About me -
I’m Lou, originally from the UK but lucky enough to now be living in the tropical region of Darwin, northern Australia.
The environment I live in is awesome, which has led me to become interested mainly in landscape photography. Darwin has everything from beautiful beaches, the best sunsets, amazing waterfalls, gorges and national parks everywhere. I still haven’t explored everywhere I want to and it will be a long time before I become exhausted with this location!
I began my interest in photography in October 2010, using my first DSLR; a Canon 450D. My passion (bordering on obsession, now!!) was furthered when I bought my first wide angle lens; a Sigma 10-20mm. All of my landscapes use this lens. I do like to create inspirational images, and shoot still life with my 50mm prime lens.
My other passion is travel, and I am lucky enough to have been able to travel through Europe several times, through SE Asia a couple of times and all around Australia. Unfortunately, I wasn’t as interested in photography then so I think I need to go and travel it all again!
My next trip planned is to Kakadu National Park, which is within my home state. It is the second largest national park in the world. I also would love to revisit Uluru and the “red centre”. I just don’t have enough time!
Anyway, that’s just a bit about me – I’m pretty crazy, a bit hyper sometimes….. but I love to hear from people, so if you have something to say check out my Flickr account and get in touch! All of my images are available as prints on request.

Artistry and feeling with smudges of light, texture and shade, photographer Svetlana Peric: “I am trying to convey emotion. To tell stories untold.”
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Conceptual, Landscape, Macro, Nature, Photographers, Portrait, Still life
Introducing our 144th featured photographer, Svetlana Peric (ceca67) from Baden, Switzerland! Svetlana is an artist with a sensitive feel for the moment which shines forth in her every shot. With a wide variety of captures ranging from landscape and travel to portraiture, conceptual and macro, it’s the creative artistry in her that makes her photos visibly stand out from the rest! Artistry and feeling with smudges of light, texture and shade… Svetlana’s images are a visual provocation to intrigue and inspire!
“My name is Svetlana ,
I was born in Bosnia (EX Yugoslavia) and
I lived there till my 18 when I moved to Belgrade – Serbia , to study, and stayed there a
big part of my life, actually, till five years ago when I got
married and moved to Switzerland.
While I had an interest in photography from an early age, I didn’t
begin “for real” shooting till I came in Switzerland, and I never really thought about photography as an art,
till my Swiss days.
Initially, it started out just as a way to bring the wonder of these
beautiful places home for friends and family to see, but eventually I
wanted more from my images.
I wanted to tell million stories of my experiences …..to reflect my engagement with my surrounding….
I wanted to speak for my innerself….
to show conceptual side…
and
to compose the visual music…to bring others feeling of
peace,happiness and harmony …
I wanted to show my photos as a calm, meditative, intriguing, alive…
I am trying to convey emotion. To tell stories untold.
For me, in photography, the most important thing is “The Light”.
I am always trying to find it, catch it and make it eternal on my pics.
Freedom,time,memories,moments,stories,adventure,desire,love,passion,harmony,sense,life,fantasy,touch,pain, simplicity,longing, seduction,choices,happiness,light,darkness,temptation,seeker
of truth,questions…..
………. Emotions……………. my art.
Enjoy…”

Photographer Gary Ngo: “I enjoy the feeling of being alone all by myself in the middle of nowhere before sunrise or sunset, searching for the best composition …”!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Conceptual, Landscape, Macro, Nature, Urban
Gary Ngo is a self taught photographer with a passion for landscape, sea and urban photography, but as with many photographers Gary also dabbles in a wide range of photographic styles! From macro to conceptual photography Gary delights his viewers with every capture and his great storytelling ability is surely the secret to his success! Below are but a few of Gary’s splendid images, a taste of just what his creativity can come up with!
Artist’s statement:
I am a self taught photographer, and relatively new to photography. I took one photography classes and that was during my high school time. I used to own a small 3MP SONY Cybershot point & shooter 10+ years ago. A year later, I sold that camera, and I was camera-less for years until I received a SONY Cybershot H-50 as a birthday gift from my girlfriend (now wife) in 2008. But I still wasn’t into photography until I received some compliment and huge encouragement from my in-law (who’s been shooting for 30+years) after he saw some of our vacation photos from Hawaii in the summer of 2009. Late in 2009, I bought my first DSLR camera (Nikon D5000) and started to get serious about photography. Now, let’s say I plan my family’s vacation around interesting photo locations. =P
My passion, or most interested field, of photography is landscape/seascape/cityscape. I enjoy the feeling of being alone all by myself in the middle of nowhere before sunrise or sunset, searching for the best composition, and the perfect light, and patiently wait for a long exposure shot to emerge. Besides landscape photography, I also like to play with the depth of field in macro photos, or make some funny, wimpy photos out of my little Danbo characters. However, there is always one thing in common in my photos regardless the subjects. That is they are mostly a very colorful images. I guess that is my “style” as I always said, “This is a colorful world, and I want my photography to reflect it.” But lately, I began shooting some B&W photos too as I believe they could also deliver a very bold, and powerful message.
I consider myself a photographer, not a Photoshop master. I tried to achieve my vision in-camera instead of relying on post-processing. My belief is you just cannot replace real clouds or water movement during long exposure, or a shallow DoF, beautiful bokeh, using wide open aperture, or a real Grad ND filter to balance the sky and the foreground in a digital darkroom.
The main body that I am currently using is a Nikon D7000. Even though I do want a full frame body, but I just don’t like to carry a camera of that size & weight around. I use my Nikkor 12-24mm f/4 for 95% of my landscape works, but I will also use a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC for that extra bit of reach occasionally. For my macro works, I rely on the Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G Micro VR lens. For everything in between, I pretty much exclusively use either a Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G, or the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G. Outside of my landscape works, I personally prefer a prime lens over a zoom. I just love that extra bit of sharpness, speed, and DoF from a fast prime lens! And I am one of those photographers who believe it makes you a better photographer to zoom in with the foot (if possible) rather than a lens.
As for my goal, I would hope one day, I will have the time and sufficient money to go capture every single beautiful scenery location around the world!
