About me

Born at the 10th of January 1953, raised and still living in Groningen, a town in the northern part of the Netherlands.

Started serious photography March 1990 with a Nikon F801. After that I did upgrade to the Nikon 801s, F90, F90x, F4E, F5 and at the time I am using the Nikon D2x and D300 bodies with Nikkor 24-70mm AF-S, 70-200mm AF-S VR, 105mm Nano maro VR, and 200-400mm F4.0 AF-S VR lenses.

In the analog past Fuji Velvia 50 and Fuji Provia 100F was the slide film I did use most and still do use a Nikon Super Coolscan 4000ED to scan the slides.

Over the past 21 years we did sell images worldwide to publishers, magazines, travel agencies and they are published on CD and book covers.

On purpose I do mention we because together with my best friend and mate in evil :) Henk Meijer I do run a website called Proframe Photography.

Started of by shooting macro like butterflies, beetles, flies and so on, and not to long after that period did go to several Zoos in the Netherlands and Germany to shoot bigger animals over there. In the meanwhile I went to the TT circuit in Assen, Drenthe, The Netherlands, which only is 20 miles from where I live, a few times a year to shoot Motor and car races over there. My big wish than already was to go abroad to shoot animals in the wild, but at that time I just didn’t have the money to do so.

From 2002 on things changed and I had the opportunity to places like Katmai National Park in Alaska to shoot Brown Bears, Haines and Homer in Alaska for the Bald Eagles and Japan for the Cranes, Snow Monkeys and Stellers Sea Eagles. Also did quite a lot of traveling in Europe, like Norway, England, Sweden and Scotland, to shoot wildlife.

At the time I do try to go abroad three times a year, mostly for wildlife shooting, but this coming 2011 year almost all my time will go in to Aviation photography. Will travel to the South-East of the USA to follow the Blue Angles for almost two weeks and to Russia to sea the Russian Knights for the first time in my life.

It was not an easy choice, but ultimately this is the result and will show you a few images of most of the subjects I’ve photographed over the past 20 years.

Best regards,

Harry Eggens

“The landscapes that really stole my heart!” Meet Henk Meijer aka Floydian!

Our 74th feature is a skilled professional that little known to many has achieved critical acclaim both in his native Holland as well as abroad! Henk Meijer known on flickr simply as ~ Floydian ~, has had his works published in magazines, brochures, post and greeting cards, calenders, book and cd covers, but also in daily life news papers and tv displays. Together with his photographic partner Harry Eggens, Henk has also been a many times winner in international photo contests! Too modest to even state his achievements on his profile, Henk Meijer prefers humbly to remain just a dedicated follower of Pink Floyd and their music!

About Me:

Based in flat boring Holland, but with his own charme.

Starting doing serious photography in the film era, way back in the early 90′s. Together with doing my travels all over the world i found a perfect combination in filling my time and doing photography.

In the beginning only doing sport photography (mainly motorsports), till i find out that my real heart and passion was in doing landscapes, cityscapes and portraits of people with a strong expression. Although i also like to make portraits and seeking the interaction with people all over the world, it are the landscapes all over the world that really stole my heart. I left the portraits out of this collection below, but if you are interested in them, please take a look here

Things got really out of hand at the turn of the century when my sales statrted to rise and i started to shoot more and more in a commercial way. Selling my pictures world wide, but i never forget were this all has started. The joy and pleasure i find in going out very early or staying up very late hunting for perfect light and coming home with beautiful material, that’s still the drive that keeps me going.

In this digital era the digital darkroom became more and more important and with giving workshops in Lightroom and Photoshop i also found extra fun and joy and showing to other people how they can improvew their workflow by only shooting in RAW and pushing their images to a much higher level.

I was ask to send in 18 of my best ones, which is of course impossible. So i decided to choose 18 images which means a lot to me, in light, style, being there on that particular moment and on the emotional part. So don’t pin me on images that i didn’t choose and that you like probably more or better, in the end it’s a all a personal choice ;-)

Hope you enjoy them just as much as i do….
