I’m a Lisbon based landscape, travel, fine art and wedding photographer.
I started photography around 2006, and since then it’s had a growing part in my life, expanding from mainly shooting waterscapes to encompass a wide range of subjects and professional wedding photography.

All this and more from our 150th featured artist Snorri Gunnarsson a talented photojournalist from Reykjavik, Iceland! Snorri has some beautiful moments captured many reflecting the beauty of the Icelandic countryside. Whether it be land, water, sky or sea, this amazing photographer never fails to inspire!
Snorri Gunnarsson was born in Selfoss on the south coast of Iceland in 1971. He was raised in the Westman Islands and Selfoss.
In 2006 he graduated from the photography department of the Reykjavik Technical College, following that he moved with his family to the west coast of Canada to study photojournalism.
After graduation he ran a photographic company in Victoria British Columbia, focusing on advertising and studio photography working for some of the biggest companies in British Columbia. Along side that he was a freelance photojournalist for Victoria Times Colonist and Peninsula News Review as well as magazines like Boulevard, Fathers Quarterly Japan, Photolife, Photosho and Gardenwize.

“Hello everyone…
My name is William Powe. I am 42 years old with a lovely wife and wonderful son. I am a self taught photographer.
My foray into photography started in Jr. High School in a photography shop class (Now know as HACS in my sons middle school) I quickly developed a love and passion for it, but I did not have the chance to stick with it at the time because it was only for a 1 year period.
It was 2 decades before I was able to get back into my passion. The expensive equipment was the biggest reason why I couldn’t pick it up sooner, but now that I have been able to acquire what I need, I have been shooting ever since.
I shoot mostly landscape and nature photos because I love to be outdoors and always discover something that I have never seen before in my own backyard. I still do portraits and occasionally shoot weddings and events.
Photography for me has a therapeutic effect. It helps me to relax and reflect.

Bio:
Photography is very personal to me; every photo has a story, an emotion. I was first introduced to photography about twelve years ago when my brother gave me a Canon Elph, film camera. Thanks Rick! I carried it absolutely everywhere and was encouraged early on to keep going with my budding passion. From there I bought my first digital camera, an Agfa CL18 which shot at 640 x 480. I was on top of the world! From then my progression throughout the following years involves a journey through the Canon Powershot series, then the Digital Rebels, and finally ends with me currently using a Canon 5D MKII.
Photography to me is wonderful in many ways. The explorer in me loves to seek new sights and to feel the rush of discovery. The existential side, yearns to be engulfed in my environment; knowing it is an absolute privilege to witness such incredible wonders. You can hear symphonies in the silence of nature and that calm is like a breath of fresh air from the suffocation of the daily grind. Finally the artist in me, who could not draw nor paint as well as he would like, loves the fact that my camera can be my brush and my technical abilities and intuition can transform a series of clicks into art.
The fact that others can find my work beautiful and inspiring is one of the best compliments I can ever have – to all those, a big heartfelt, “Thank you.” I’d like to add, I’m really not as serious in person as this bio would lead you to believe. I pride myself in my humor and enjoy making people laugh as much as I do taking photos. And, for some strange reason, I take great pride in creating witty titles for my photos.

Artist’s statement:
“I am a full time Wedding Photographer based in West Yorkshire (UK). I have been taking photos professionally for about 3 years. My interest in photography began fairly late in life on a round the world trip in 2005 (I was 24). I took a small canon powershot A95 on the off chance that I might take a few shots and came back with about 5000! I am entirely self taught, learning what I can from various internet resources and developing a critical eye by looking at a lot of photos!
I enjoy taking wedding photos and get a lot of satisfaction from the response of a couple when they first see their wedding shots. Although I am interested in all genres of photography I think my favourite subject would be landscapes, as I love the outdoors and photography, landscapes seemed like a good fit! There is nothing quite like arriving at some remote spot when it is quiet and no one is about, to carefully set up and compose a shot and watch the sun rise and capture it on camera. Even if it is a popular spot and the sun rises everyday, each one is entirely unique and when I look at one of my landscapes I am instantly transported back and can remember all the little details about the day. Plus its always nice for someone to say “That’s a great shot!”
I draw a lot lot of inspiration from Ansel Adams and his attitude to not only photography but the outdoors and the environment. Another landscape photographer who I admire for the same reason would be Joe Cornish. I love Nick Brandt’s wildlife photos too. The easiest tips I can give to anyone wanting to improve their photography skills would be just take lots of photos and look at lots of photos, you’ll be amazed how fast you improve the more you do. With landscape photography get out for the golden hours, 30 minutes either-side of sunrise or sunset is when you can turn an otherwise good photo in to something amazing”.

Artist Statement :
Photography has been a growing passion of mine since 2006. My wife and I have established everlook photography which started off primarily as a landscape photography website but has since grown to encompass a growing portfolio of wedding images as well. We have had the good fortune to travel to remote reaches of the world and each time we do, we hope to bring back images that will help us remember the feeling of being in those wonderful places. We hope by bringing the image to the viewer, that some of our feeling can also be conveyed.
Personally, I have an intense love for hiking and some of my favourite locations have been somewhat difficult to access, especially with a heavy backpack of camera gear and hiking equipment. I carry any piece of equipment I feel I will put to use during these hikes and this usually includes an ultra wide angle (16-35mm F2.8) a midrange zoom (24-70mm F2.8) and a longer zoom (70-200mm F2.8 with 2X converter). If this means getting accustomed to carrying more weight, this is a sacrifice I am more than willing to make my doing extra conditioning before beginning a trek.
I have had the good fortune to meet some wonderful contacts from photo-sharing sites such as flickr, deviant art and the Australian photography forum. The most recent highlight was spending a weekend shooting Jokulsarlon with Orvar Atli in Iceland. Our images have recently been published in Australian Photography magazine and Popular Photography magazine and we hope that we will be able to bring our images to more eyes through print media in the future.
There is always a gold standard to strive for and I will never reach it. That is my mantra for ongoing self-improvement and the day I feel I cannot improve will be a sad day as it will be the day which I will stop taking pictures. I am sure that that day will never come though ?

This talented Australian photographer has an extraordinary eye for landscape photography and though Adam started out late in the medium he is already an emerging talent in the field! Artist’s statement:
Having been involved in photography as a hobby for a mere 2 years, it has been a steep learning curve, but as with anything I take on in life it has become a passion (some would say obsession!). Living in the small town of Gympie on the east coast of Australia with my wife & daughter, I have centered my photography mostly along the picturesque coastline & creeks of the area, rarely finding the time (or funds) to venture beyond has encouraged me to look closely at the beauty of the area.
My preference for landscape & seascape is clearly visible in my images, however given the chance to have my camera in hand, I will pretty much have a go at anything, from action to wedding & even macro. I began with a Canon 400D twin lens kit, but soon felt the need to upgrade & now shoot with a Canon 50D. My favourite lens is a Canon 10-22, but my kit also includes a Tamron 90mm macro & 70-200, a Sigma 24-70 & what would I be without a 50mm prime in my kit. I also use Cokin P filters & just recently acquired a Singh-Ray 3stop reverse grad. I’d love to make the step to full frame by the end of this year, likely to a 5DMKII.
Until 2 years ago I had never heard of Flickr & soon discovered what a great learning tool it is & have made many friends the world over, they are true inspiration & I thank them for the continued improvement in my photography. I now look at the world in a completely different way, when I look at the sky I see the clouds in detail & I eagerly await every trip to the coast.
