Artist’s Statement:
Hello, my name is Michael Breitung and I live in Germany in a small town near Erlangen where I work as software engineer. I have been intensely involved with photography since 2008. I started Landscape photography 3 years ago when I bought my first DSLR. In my day job I am mostly sitting in front of the PC the whole day so being out in nature, hiking and practicing Landscape photography provides the perfect balance for me.
I love to get up early and hike through the dark to my photo locations. It’s just wonderful to see the world transform from this dark and gloomy place into this colorful wonderland during twilight and sunrise. Another good thing about an early start is that most of the time I have this vista for myself.
When time permits I also like to travel and explore distant places. It’s always a challenge trying to capture the essence of those landscapes because I usually just have a couple of days there and maybe won’t have the chance to come back so soon. But it’s a challenge I like. It helped me to improve my photography more than if I had just gone shooting the same place over and over again.
If there is one thing I’ve learned it’s that sometimes I have only one chance to capture the perfect moment. But if I am able to capture it, those pictures are the most valuable for me.
Because I enjoy hiking, most of my photos are landscapes or motifs from nature. When I am not outdoors to photograph, I also like to experiment in the Studio or take the time to edit my photos. This is often a lengthy process because I aspire always for the best possible result, above all for the images that I offer in the shop as a fine art print.
My personal aim: In my photographs I try to capture the magic of the moment in such a way that each viewer personally feels present in my landscapes, enjoying each scene the way I experienced it. The main focus then in editing is to reflect the atmosphere of the pictures as I perceived them on-site. This is quite a subjective process, but I hope that my photos come to life for each and everyone.
On a personal note, recently I have been writing regularly for the landscape photography magazine and KWERFELDEIN. I will post the links to the latest articles on my blog so keep your eyes open and tuned-in for all the latest!
Interview
I recently gave an interview for another photography blog. It is in English but if you are interested here is the link. Interview with Michael Breitung

Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Action, Architecture, Landscape, Macro, Nature, Portrait, Urban
Introducing our 116th featured artist Muktasyaf Ibrahim AnNamir (AnNamir) a photographer with the perfect mix of talent, class and style ! Indeed, whether it be candid portrait, amazing macro, or fabulous high speed photography every shot is a visually stunning work of art! Need inspiration?….AnNamir’s photostream is one you definitely wouldn’t want to miss!
Info about AnNamir مكـتــشــــــف إبراهيم الرفــاعى and his work:
Hi, my name is Muktasyaf Ibrahim AnNamir. I’m a teacher with a great passion for photography. I was born in Kuala Lipis, Malaysia 34 years ago and currently live and work in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Malaysia. I began to get to know the real world of photography around the middle of 2008. Starting from zero, I really did not know anything about ISO, Aperture, or even Shutter Speed. I learned a lot about photography from the Flickr community as there’s so many outstanding and inspiring fellow photographers here in Flickr. I also learned a lot from my fellow friends in Malaysia and well up on some local forums on photography. Thank you guys
I am particularly interested in landscape photography and nature. I am also interested in candid and macro shots. For those who would like to know, there is only a kit lens in my bag with a 50mm f1.8 lens and a macro filter. Also one 3D lens for capturing 3D stereography, but I prefer the kit lens for my stereography photos.
I still need guidance and inspiration from you all to strengthen my knowledge of photography. Last but not least: It will not be exhausted to learn until you return to your Creator. So “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave!”
Here are 18 of my personal favorites:

Szefi has the eye of a creative photographer, spotting the small details and magnifying them to make us wonder…”!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Architecture, Conceptual, Landscape, Nature, Urban
Meet Réka Solymosi (Szefi) our 115th featured artist, a wonderfully talented photographer who manages to see and capture the intricate beauty and colourfulness of life! Réka indeed has been described as a photographer with an “exceptional ability to capture the atmosphere…the eye of a creative photographer, spotting the small details and magnifying them to make us wonder…”! I’m sure you’ll agree, with the wide variety of styles and compositions in her stream there’s plenty for you to explore and be inspired!
About me:
Born in 1979 in Cluj, Romania as an ethnic Hungarian, I grew up in Sweden between 1990 and 2002. Pursuing my childhood dream, I moved to Budapest in 2002 to study and work. I lived in Budapest for six years, completing my studies and working as a freelance translator, language teacher and support analyst.
Accepting a job opportunity in Sweden, I moved to Stockholm in 2008, where I am currently living and working as a customer service rep.
I took up photography in 2005, and it soon became my number one hobby, dominating my free time and travels.
I am mostly fascinated by urban, landscape and nature photography.
I like to learn new techniques and among my preferred ones are HDR, super wide-angle and long shutter speed photography.
I shoot with a Canon EOS 450D (Rebel Xsi) and a Canon PowerShot G11. Among my prized accessories are my Sigma 10-20 4-5.6 EX DC HSM and Canon EF 85/1.8 USM lenses, and the Vari-ND and NDx1000 filters.
My daily inspiration comes not from noted photo professionals but rather from other fantastic Flickr members who, not unlike myself, pursue this beautiful hobby beside regular day jobs, striving every day to make the world a little bit prettier.

Joshua Gunther is our 114th featured artist, a talented city guy photographer with a fascinating collection of landscape, nature, portrait, architectural, night shots, cityscapes and dynamic long-exposures of urban LA! Indeed, Josh, who is an animation artist by profession, shows an amazing versatility with diverse photographic genres and a perfect grasp of light and framing in every exposure! Definitely worth a cruise through this unique artist’s photostream!
Artist Statement:
My Name is Joshua Gunther. I live in the sometimes misunderstood city of Los Angeles!
I have lived here for many years but it wasn’t until I started adventuring downtown to take photos that I really started to understand the city for what is was, a beautiful place! It is my hope that you enjoy these photo’s and maybe experience LA in a new way.
My day job is working on animated film at Dreamworks Feature Animation, where I work as a Previz Artist in the Layout Department. My passion for photography developed a few years ago while I was looking for other artistic outlets outside of work. Turns out that photography has been a perfect outlet and has taught me a ton about art, lighting, and composition that I have since used to further my work at Dreamworks.
I also want to give thanks to God, my family, and my wife Jennifer who continue to encourage me to pursue my photography passions! You have been a huge blessing to me.
Thanks for checking out my work! Blessings,
Josh
