Mark Littlejohn (MarkLJ) is a talented photographer whose love for nature and hiking has taken him on a photographic journey! A tribute to his inner love for the Scottish and Northern English landscape, Mark’s images are packed with emotion, soft-toned and dreamy, picture perfect in every detail! Below are but a few of Mark’s breathtaking images! You can’t help but be inspired!
I’m a Scot who has lived on the edge of the English Lake District for nearly 20 years and have been a keen fell walker for some time. During the cold spell in early 2010 I saw some amazing views and decided that maybe photography might be a nice hobby. Bought a wee Pentax K-X in February 2010 and started taking pictures during my hikes. Fairly soon the photography began to rival the walking as the reason for going out on the fells. By October last year I was going out purely to take photographs with my favourite location being Ullswater. I’ve started to play more with long exposures as I like the effects on the colour at dawn and dusk. I’m not sure I’ve settled down into the type of images I want but I know I’m not bothered if I leave reality behind. I intend to go part time at work over the next few months which will hopefully allow me more time to pursue my hobby. I just love being out there at Dawn and dusk watching the colours changing hue and trying to capture those moments is a wonderful challenge.
I wish I’d taken it up many years ago.

Photographer David Shield, a man of nature who truly appreciates the wilderness around him!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Landscape, Photographers, Urban
Love the outdoors? David Shield, our 46th featured photographer is a man of nature who truly appreciates the wilderness around him! With a knack when it comes to capturing the light and beauty around him, David successfully interprets and captures it with his lens. Check out his marvelous work, and I am sure you will agree.”
Artist’s statement:
“Born in London, England, I now call Northern California home. Through no coincidence, I have chosen to live in a part of the country, conveniently located between the Bay Area, and the mountain ranges of the Eastern Sierra.
I have been a member of the Flickr Community for about one and a half years. This has been a great platform for receiving both comments and feedback. Even though I have experienced moderate success promoting my images through several different media forms, I am still far from being able to consider myself a true professional.
I still have a lot to learn, but I am however, totally driven to improve my skills. Through my passion; my goal is to touch and inspire others, so that more people will appreciate the natural beauty we are so lucky to have be a part of this Earth”.

A talented photographer from Oxfordshire, England, Adam Edwards’ scenes are stunning, the colors are naturally beautiful, and there is inspiration to be found in every shot!

Our 44th feature is a talented photographer from Oxfordshire, England. Adam Edwards‘ photostream speaks for itself. The scenes are stunning, the colors are naturally beautiful, and there is inspiration to be found in every shot.
Artist’s statement:
I am a landscape and nature photographer born in 1983, currently based in rural Oxfordshire, England.
Growing up in the countryside I have always felt at home in the great outdoors and my early years would often involve lots of running around getting filthy until the last light of day faded into night. Little was I to know that a couple of decades later, not much would have changed!
My interests for nature and photography crossed paths while I was working for my M.A. in Art History in the Scottish seaside town of St Andrews. Inspired by my studies of the greats who had come before, and fuelled by the spectacular scenery on my doorstep, I felt an overwhelming urge to pick up a camera in search of my own artistic voice. Before long, my interests in the power of the captured image and in the world which surrounds us were fused into an intense passion for landscape and nature photography, and I was hooked.
Photography for me is about much more than simply making pretty pictures, documenting locations or capturing memories. It is also about developing a deeper understanding of the world around us and exploring it through a creative eye. Seeking out photographs encourages me to look deeper and truly see things I might only previously have noticed. To my mind a successful landscape photograph is one that transports the viewer into the scene and evokes the same sentiments as I experienced at the time of shooting. Through sharing my images I hope to be able to bring you with me, put you in my shoes, and show you our beautiful world the way I see it.
In terms of my approach to the landscape, I tend to favour shooting in the kind of dramatic lighting and weather conditions that can really help show nature at its best. I find it very rewarding being immersed in the landscape during epic displays of light and being able to walk away with permanent records of those transient moments that captivated my attention. There is however always the knowledge that there is a better shot out there just waiting to be found and this is a real motivation that sees me continuing to return to the landscape time after time…
Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoy my photography!

Inspirational photographer Martyn Starkey: dreaming of the right places at the right time of day!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Landscape, Nature, Still life, Urban
Our 12th featured photographer in the Hall of Fame is the wonderfully creative and truly inspirational genius Martyn Starkey!
As Martyn says:
“Hi everyone! I was born in Nottingham England, and I am 49 years old. I have only recently started taking pictures in an artistic way having been introduced to the SLR by a work friend about 4 years ago. Along came Flickr and I had found my latest passion. Photography is very much a hobby for me, time during the day being taken up by my day job in IT and after hours with my wife and small dog Jorja. We love travelling so I mainly get to take pictures on holidays and occasionally I snatch time during lunch at work.
I love taking pictures of all kinds but my preference is landscapes as you will gather from my photostream. Typically I use a Canon 400d which I have had since 2007 and like most people I have used a variety of lenses but these days I tend to use the kit lens which might surprise a few.
I spend a fair amount of time in Photoshop getting the right ‘feel’ for a picture but I dream of one day being able to have the right kit and go to the right places at the right time of day to get the shot straight out of the camera – keep dreaming!!
Here are some of my favorite pics! Hope you like them!”

More than just a photographer, Alex is a photo artist who delights his viewers with the charming sceneries and dreamy settings of the Chiltern Hills!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Landscape, Macro, Nature, Portrait
Our 54th featured photographer indeed needs no introduction. From the Chiltern Hills, England, Alex (aka Algo) has delighted flickr fans all over with his charming sceneries and dreamy settings! Described as “more of a photo artist that just a photographer” Algo uses his amazing talent to discover the beauty and create the magic in any scene!
Artist’s statement:
Digital Photography and retirement have reignited a love of taking and making pictures. I’ve never felt a need to share before – but ease of computer access on Flickr seems to make it so convenient …. why not try? (Although I’m still daunted by the stunning quality of so many images posted here, day by day.)
I’ve always believed in encouraging people in their efforts by praising them, and that surely happens on Flickr – and it still feels good – giving and receiving, and above all learning from the example of the many excellent photographers.
What is my photo style?
It’s a question I never dreamed of asking: I see what I like and press the button.
So when someone called me a peddler of “Eye Candy”, obviously meant in a derogatory way, I thought-Yes – that’s a label I’ll wear with pride.
But hold on – Candy? Did I want to be associated with something that should be taken in small quantities, and is probably bad for you?
So I cast around for an alternative. Eye Pleasuring? Eye Nourishment? Eye ….? And then Eye Delight occurred and it has grown on me.
First, “Delightful” is a term I often use as high approbation. To delight the eye seems a thoroughly good reason to take photographs.
Then it includes “light”, which is crucial to my motivation in taking pics. “De” in local dialect is often used as “of”, (rather like in French?).
And deeper still when spoken it can be taken for “I delight” – which is what I experience when taking photos, and is certainly my purpose as in – “I hope I delight some who view my photos”.
So there we are. I’ve found my photo style: Eye de-light. I hope you agree that my pics go towards that.

The multi-talented Angus Clyne: “Photography has always been my hobby, now it is my obsession/addiction…”!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Landscape, Macro, Nature, Urban
Our 5th featured photographer is, I’m sure most of you already know, the multi-talented and Jack of all trades, Angus Clyne! To find out more about this exceptional artist do please visit his photo stream by clicking on one of his images!
Angus lives in rural Perthshire but originally came from the North West of Scotland. In his own words:
I’m a professional artist woodturner making my living from the work I sell through galleries. I have drawn, painted and taken pics for most of my life. I even spent some time studying fine art at collage. In the past I have owned a couple of film SLRs but was always frustrated at the time delay and lack of control over the finished image. Today’s digital capture and processing is like a dream come true for me.
Photography has always been my hobby, now it is my obsession/addiction. I used to take pictures when I went out, now I go out to take my pictures!
I do most of my processing in Photoshop.
I like to keep my photographs real but have no real interest in reality…
P.S. I’m dyslexic and colour blind, both can generate unusual and unforeseen consequences on flikcr…
