Introducing the magical world of Vassilis Tangoulis, our 139th featured artist and an amazing photographer who consistently strives to capture the beautiful! With Vassilis it is all about the art of ‘seeing” or “feeling” the moment, that dramatic sunrise or sunset, the awe-inspiring eternal dream that seems to unfold before his camera! I am sure you will all agree with Vassilis, it’s not the equipment that counts but the artist within!

Artist’s statement:

“My name is Vassilis Tangoulis and my passion is photography. I live and work in Patra, Greece, A city near the sea and I must say I am influenced by its beauty.
My interests are mainly landscape photography but I also like to capture everything that makes a difference according to my perspective. I love long exposure photography and I find that through neutral density filters the world becomes magical-the ideal place to live on. As a very good friend of mine (Joel Tjintjelaar) says:…I believe in the artistic result and in the visualization of the artist of how he/she sees the world. A camera is just a piece of hardware with no mind, no soul, no artisticity, just an object that records a situation, unbiased and emotionless. I’m not interested in the vision of a piece of hardware, I’m only interested in the vision of the artist with a mind and soul, who will alter the image to his reality. It’s the difference between photography and art..

So welcome to my world. Hope you like it.. “

Meet Maria Kaimaki (justeline), a talented photographer with a great storytelling ability!

What makes great photographs great? One thing for sure is they all tell a great story and make you feel something with just that one image. Maria Kaimaki (justeline) is our 112th featured artist, a talented photographer with a great storytelling ability! Maria’s stream is worth a peek and even though she has uploaded only a few of her splendid images into her stream, there’s enough in there to convince you of her professionalism, style and ability!

Artist’s statement:

I was born and raised on a little Greek island and my earliest and most precious memories are of long days at rocky, isolated beaches and expeditions exploring the few woods of the island. A camera never accompanied me during those moments though. Photography came much later on in my life and changed it forever. In the summer of 2008 my companion, himself a dedicated landscape photographer, taught me the basics of photography and in doing so he opened a door to a whole new way of seeing and appreciating the world around me, a new philosophy and way of life. I realized that up till then I merely glanced and never noticed, never fully grasped nature’s beauty and meaning and its healing effect.

Sitting behind a camera you understand your true place and significance in the grand scheme of things. A landscape is something timeless, persistent and enduring and we’re mere passengers on it. Measuring your worries and anxieties against that truth you realize how small and insignificant they are.

Photography became for me the means to collect experiences and memories. Sometimes I’m able to transform these experiences and memories into a photograph. Other times they just remain as images in my mind. They are equally real to me either way.

“My name is Konstantinos and I am from Athens, Greece. I am an engineer by profession but landscape photography is my passion. I try to travel a lot when I can, exploring mainly the beauties of Greece and trying to display them through my own vision. I have been doing this for five years now and still have a lot to learn and see.

I am constantly sharpening my photography skills and always hoping that one day I will have enough time and sufficient money to travel the world with my partner Maria and create beautiful photographs. Oh and in case you haven’t noticed I have a thing for shipwrecks “
