BABAK

Artist’s statement:

My interest in photography started when I was at school. I joined the photographic club and soon got my own film SLR. This partnership carried on (on and off) for many years until 2001 when I bought my first digital camera, and have not looked back since.

The digital process is an ever-changing one and the learning process goes on and I suspect and hope that it will never end. I have learnt an enormous amount through the Internet and sites such as Flickr.

Beyond capturing a moment, the feel and atmosphere of a place, I chase the light. Being aware of light is a very important aspect of a shot and makes the biggest single difference to my personal satisfaction of a photograph that I take. When photographing a landscape or seascape I try to produce a shot which portrays an unusual and unexpected perspective and feel of the place. This often backfires and can be frustrating, but is always stimulating and enjoyable process, which is after all the reason why I continue to take photographs.

I always shoot RAW and use PS for post production. I do not have a regular working pattern or work flow as I find a regular working pattern bores me quickly and becomes a chore rather than a joy. This also affords me a little more freedom and means each shot is unique and often irreproducible even by me.

I am very grateful for this opportunity to present my pictures and thank you all for looking.

With his camera Shobeir paints the world through his viewfinder and presents them to us charged with emotion! “I was born and raised in Iran. Currently I am living in upstate New York and I have been fortunate to be surrounded by the beauty of nature. I seek out rural areas to experience true wilderness away from crowds, cities, and the stress of everyday life.

Through landscape photography I have been able to combine my love of the outdoors and my desire to try to capture its beauty.
I have also recently developed a strong interest in Urban Exploration Photography. The unusual beauty that can be found only in neglected buildings amazes me every single time.

It is a big honor for me to be included with the great photographers that are featured here. I hope you enjoy these pictures. Thank you for your time.”
