The pure unsullied landscapes of Tom Schwabel, one of the finest photographers from around the world!

Outstanding Photographers aims at showcasing some of the finest photographers from around the world and indeed there are some great ones out there. We are now proud to introduce to you our 160th feature, Tom Schwabel (pdxsafariguy), another fine example and among the best in the field. Tom is one of those rare artists that possesses the uncanny ability to pull the viewer into the scene and make you feel as if you were the one snapping the shutter! His pure, unsullied landscapes are both surreal and yet tangible in their breathtaking beauty. Below is but a  sample of Tom’s amazing work.
115 Degrees in the Shade!

Artist’s Statement:

I’ve always been into photography to some extent, starting long ago in a high school darkroom. After a long break from photography, I moved to the Pacific Northwest and the photography bug bit hard. Surrounded by so much natural beauty, it was only natural to begin trying to bring some of that beauty home with me. Now I find myself traveling far and wide to incredible locations, challenging myself to capture them in the best possible manner. Through this combination of travel and photography, I have been fortunate to gain a deeper appreciation of the culturally and naturally diverse world we live in. I find myself inspired by landscapes and seascapes, city skylines and bridges, wildlife, and anything at night. Wherever possible I try to integrate water, light, texture, and motion into my images. I am constantly striving to refine my eye for composition as well as improve my understanding of light and how to control it to achieve the impact I desire. I owe a great debt of gratitude to the incredibly talented folks here on Flickr who have helped and inspired me on my photographic journey. Learning is a lifelong process and I believe, maybe as my own harshest critic, that there is always room for improvement. In that regard, I am on a never-ending quest for that elusive ultimate shot.

Artist’s Statement:

Hello, my name is Michael Breitung and I live in Germany in a small town near Erlangen where I work as software engineer. I have been intensely involved with photography since 2008. I started Landscape photography 3 years ago when I bought my first DSLR. In my day job  I am mostly sitting in front of the PC the whole day so being out in nature, hiking and practicing Landscape photography provides the perfect balance for me.

I love to get up early and hike through the dark to my photo locations. It’s just wonderful to see the world transform from this dark and gloomy place into this colorful wonderland during twilight and sunrise. Another good thing about an early start is that most of the time I have this vista for myself.

When time permits I also like to travel and explore distant places. It’s always a challenge trying to capture the essence of those landscapes because I usually just have a couple of days there and maybe won’t have the chance to come back so soon. But it’s a challenge I like. It helped me to improve my photography more than if I had just gone shooting the same place over and over again.

If there is one thing I’ve learned it’s that sometimes I have only one chance to capture the perfect moment. But if I am able to capture it, those pictures are the most valuable for me.

Because I enjoy hiking, most of my photos are landscapes or motifs from nature. When I am not outdoors to photograph, I also like to experiment in the Studio or take the time to edit my photos. This is often a lengthy process because I aspire always for the best possible result, above all for the images that I offer in the shop as a fine art print.

My personal aim: In my photographs I try to capture the magic of the moment in such a way that each viewer personally  feels present in my landscapes, enjoying each scene the way I experienced it. The main focus then in editing is to reflect the atmosphere of the pictures as I perceived them on-site. This is quite a subjective process, but I hope that my photos come to life for each and everyone.

On a personal note, recently I have been writing regularly for the landscape photography magazine and KWERFELDEIN. I will post the links to the latest articles on my blog so keep your eyes open and tuned-in for all the latest!

Interview

I recently gave an interview for another photography blog. It is in English but if you are interested here is the link. Interview with Michael Breitung

Yo David Frutos Egea

Spanish:

“Para mi la imagen más dificil es la que aún no has hecho”.

Ya lo dijo Ansel Adams: “La fotografía del paisaje es la prueba suprema del fotógrafo… y a menudo la suprema desilusión”. Es aquí donde me encuentro más cómodo con mi fotografía, tratando de extraer la esencia del paisaje creando sensaciones de lugar, movimiento, frio… Es mediante el uso de filtros y técnicas de largas exposiciones es como lo consigo.

From dramatic seascapes to daring Underwater photography, mind blowing images by Vance Taitano!

Our 67th featured artist can be described as a truly motivational photographer! From dramatic seascapes to daring underwater photography, Vance Taitano’s (VTaitano) images are the kind of mind blowing full of inspiration photography that viewers from around the world have learned to love! One name definitely to look out for in the future! Can’t wait to see what you capture next Vance!

Happy To Be Diving Cold Water Again!
Happy To Be Diving Cold Water Again!

“Hi everyone! My name is Vance Taitano (VTaitano) and I’d consider myself a passionate/ dedicated amateur photographer but an amateur nonetheless. Unless I’ve actually quit my day job It’ll always be an extreme hobby ;)

My first love for photography will probably always be for the underwater realm that I adore so much. I’m originally from the island of Guam but now reside in San Jose California (about and hour near San Francisco). Fortunately I’m also about an hour from Monterey which IMO has some of the best diving in the world! It just happens to be a bit colder than most places… and that’s not a bad thing.

You’ll see a wide range of subjects and styles that I attempt to document throughout my travels.

Flickr has proven for me to be the best forum to receive support & encouragement and it’s given me endless amounts of inspiration! I really appreciate the constructive remarks that are posted by fellow Flickr members, making this site a family-like community. I look forward to contributing to this wonderful group.

Thanks for spending a few minutes to consider this page.
I’m also available for questions any time because I remember all the support I received from other members”.

Extraordinary photographer Chris Lofqvist…”I bought my first SLR when I was 13″!

Our 21th featured artist is a talented photographer with an extraordinary eye for composition and beauty! Chris Lofqvist (Christolakis) hails from Australia, his awe-inspiring captures have delighted, amazed and inspired viewers from all over the world!!

Chris Lofqvist

“My name is Chris Lofqvist, I’m 50 years old and born in Sweden, I moved to Australia almost 20 years ago and now I live in Brisbane.

I got my first camera when I was around 11 years old and I bought my first SLR when I was 13, so I’ve taken photos all my life. Photography is something that’s been in the family from for a long time, my granddad was an amateur photographer and so is my dad. Later in life I lost interest a bit as other things were more important but now with the digital cameras and all the possibilities and the post processing in the computer it’s really got my interest and enthusiasm in photography to rise to new levels.

I will still regard myself as a amateur maybe an advanced amateur at best, but I really like learning new things and new processing techniques and I can see a very interesting future with photography”.

Here now is a taste of Chris’s magic with the camera!
