English:
I was born in a village near Kassel/Germany in 1950 and have grown up there. Since the early 70s I discovered my love for photography. It started with some cameras with which I was not particularly happy because my dream camera at that young age was just too expensive.
But after a few years ago I finally bought a Nikon F3 with some lenses. For many years onwards this camera accompanied me and my family on our camping tours throughout Europe, up to the era of digital photography. At first I was skeptical, it took a while to convince myself of this technology, but most of the digital cameras then were small and handy, no more heavy lenses, etc. and it wasn’t long before I had my Nikon Coolpix 885. My ideas about photography and speed though did not comply with this model. I then decided to buy my third Nikon, a D300, since I still had more than one matching Nikon lenses.
Also by chance I came across “Flickr”, where I found so many gifted and amateur photographers and their extraordinary photos there. At that time I was no longer working and had time to edit my photos and to dedicate more time to my new hobby. The many techniques I found there gave me a broad spectrum and my use depends on the style and effect I want to achieve. Personally I find work with “textures” most appealing. I am aware that not everybody may like my particular photography techniques, but my hope is to inspire some people with it.

Photographer Alonso Diaz, a magician with lighting and color where creativity and art both come together!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Conceptual, Landscape, Night, Portrait, Urban
Presenting from Sevilla, Spain, our 11th featured photographer, one of the most highly acclaimed photographers on the net! Alonso Diaz (aka alonsodr) has been called… “a modern day master of reflection and light, photographer par excellence… a magician with lighting and colors”!

“The greatest satisfaction is most importantly not to get something shocking, but to get the result you intend”
Photography basically consists of two points of view, a merely informative one, in which terms like composition become less important, and a deeper, more profound and artistic one. Personally, it is the latter that interests me, an approach in which creativity and art have a place together, but without ever losing sight of the discipline, that is, without editing or changes in reality through processing. Not that the post-process deserves less respect, but I think it is more related to design than photography.
Today I have the good fortune of being an ambassador of Sony UK, have been sponsored for Cokin photographer and have traveled many times to Europe to give lectures on Sony products and my shooting style. Working with a Sony A-900 and Carl-Zeiss optics I am very attracted by the creativity that filters allow, trying to get the desired image in a single shot. My greatest expertise is in landscape photography and I especially enjoy playing with exposure, looking for images that are beyond our ability to grasp. I am now also trying to do something different with external models and lighting kits.
Here are some of my favorite shots:

The Lord of the Foam (Selfportrait)

Where clouds come from (282 sec)

My mother used to say that, though not inclined for math she thought that I should study science, be a doctor or something similar. The truth is that since childhood I was attracted to the arts, the amazing paintings of Murillo and the drawings of Alex Raymond. I eventually became a comics illustrator though this work lasted a short while; the compeition in that field was fierce. My father gave me my first camera at age 16, a Contina with a Carl Zeiss lens, a marvel, the best moments of my life were spent in a dark room, experimenting with black and white developing. After the sad death of my brother I gradually regained the love of photography with the Canon EOS 20D.
Photography is another way of seeing reality and transforming it. Film, painting and sculpture all show you the way in which the artist expresses himself. For me photography is more than a hobby, it’s the way I express myself.
