Lawrence Neo is our 155th featured artist, an outstanding nature photographer where nature, art and beauty all come together! Lawrence specializes in bird photography and his photo-style is just amazing, every photo is a carefully composed work of art. Beginning as a hobby Lawrence has since dedicated much of his time both home and abroad in search of exotic birds and believe me he has amassed quite a collection for every interest! Every species is also carefully documented and presented in sets by region and species! Have a wander through his stream and you’ll see what I mean. Even if you don’t know much about nature and wildlife photography you’ll soon be enthralled and inspired by Lawrence’s captures!
Artist’s statement:
I am residing at a small city nation at the southern tip of Malay Peninsula, Singapore. I started photographing birds as an hobby three years back after looking some stunning photos taken by my friends at our parks. Since then, I have spent all my spare time walking every spot of our parks and natural reserves at our neighboring country, Malaysia, searching for beautiful birds. Recently, I even traveled to Kaeng Krachan National Park, Thailand, in search of exotic birds.
I also started to study the identity of the individual bird, its origin, its natural habitats and its behavior, etc. While waiting for the decisive moments, I began to observe, learn and appreciate how the individual bird interacts with its own species, other animals and nature. How the individual bird changes its behavior to adapt to the changing environments.
I enjoy sharing my favorite photos through Flickr and learn a lot from the master photographers who share their photos and knowledge.
Best regards,
Lawrence Neo

You haven’t really seen the contemporary American West, especially Utah, until you’ve seen it through the eyes of David C. Schultz!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Landscape, Nature
We are pleased to introduce our 122nd featured artist, acclaimed landscape and wildlife photographer David C. Schultz (zoomzoom56)! Some might say you haven’t really seen the contemporary American West, especially Utah, until you’ve seen it through the eyes of this photographer. As the owner of the West Light Images gallery in Park City, Utah, David has made a successful career of capturing the brilliant colors, stunning natural features, and tiniest details of the Western American landscape on film.
Artist’s statement:
“Over the past five years I’ve been spending a great deal of time in Antarctica, seven voyages, and the Arctic, six trips, photographing the wildlife, landscapes and incredibly beautiful icebergs in these polar locations. Many of the images I’ve selected for this feature have been pulled from that collection”.
A little about my background…
In 1970, at age 13, David was diagnosed with juvenile (Type 1) diabetes. Consequently, he was cautioned against pursuing a career which would put him in isolated situations or force him to be dependent on his eyesight. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of blindness. These warnings prompted him to see as much of the world as he could after finishing school, and it was during his extended road trips throughout the U.S. and Canada that Schultz discovered the beauty of the natural world. Soon he owned his first 35mm camera, and began to teach himself the art of photography.
A native of Michigan, David moved to Dallas, Texas at age twenty-two and began his career as a fashion photographer, which he pursued for seven years. Following a visit to Utah on assignment in 1987, he returned to Dallas, closed his studio, and moved to the alpine town of Heber, Utah, where he currently resides. Since moving to Utah, David has concentrated on photographing landscape and wildlife images. His work has appeared in such publications as Travel & Leisure, Snow Country, Cowboys and Indians, Islands, and National Geographic Traveler. He is represented internationally by stock photo agencies that market his work for advertising, editorial and educational purposes.
In 1990, David began producing a series of limited edition prints of his favorite images and in the fall of 1998, he decided to open his own gallery, West Light Images, in the ski resort town of Park City, Utah. His work now appears in private, corporate and public collections around the World.
David has just returned from a six week voyage in Antarctica and will soon be off to Greece and Portugal for five weeks of touring and photographing. It will be his first visit to this part of the World and he’s looking forward to being able to pack much less gear and clothing then required for the polar regions!
“The collection of photographs which I’ve selected to display represents a fraction of nature’s beauty which I’ve been fortunate enough to witness. A very important part of photography is the ability to see the moment, and to have the patience and awareness to wait and observe the light and shadows. I hope visitors to my gallery will enjoy viewing my work.”

A world renowned Spanish composer with a passion for photography! Introducing Martin Zalba Ibáñez!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under IR, Landscape, Night, Photographers, Portrait, Still life, Urban
Extraordinary musician, extraordinary photographer! Indeed Martin Zalba Ibáñez is no newcomer to the arts! A world renowned Spanish composer with a passion for photography, Martin is sensitively gifted with a taste for the beautiful! Amazingly, this talented composer who has received world acclaim for his works, describes himself simply as a “professional composer (see his website!) that is a lover of photography”!
About me:
Born in Pamplona (Spain) in 1958, I am a Spanish composer amateur photographer.
I am interested in all types of photography, especially night photography, landscapes, urban photography, wildlife, portraits, still life and infrared photography.
AGORA GALLERY (New York)
Both a classical music composer and a renowned photographer, Spanish artist Martin Zalba Ibáñez merges his experience in these mediums to create stunning photographs that depict breathtaking vistas and yet so much more. The influence of music drives his compositions, as he strives for harmony of color, rhythm of perspective, melody of framing, orchestration of processing, and the counterpoints of shadow and light. His photographs are digital and processed via computer, giving him a versatility that allows him to infuse his own particular style into each image.
As a result, his landscapes are surreal and otherworldly, allowing the viewer a glimpse into magical vistas where virtually anything is possible. Stark geographical features are set against a brilliance of color and light that implies limitless space and potential. For Ibáñez, ?the soul of light . . . the sound of the shadows . . . the distance of color,? are the aspects he seeks to uncover in his photographs and share with the world.
The incredible photographs of Martin Zalba:

Incredible Peter Maris, bringing us closer to the amazing wonders of the wild!
Posted by Arnaud | Filed under Nature, Photographers
Wildlife photography is a field that requires specific elements of knowledge, patience and stealth. Our 69th featured artist, Peter Maris, is an amazing photographer specializing in just this field! With a sensitive feel for his subjects that comes from his deep love of nature, Peter dedicates his time and talent to bring us closer to the incredible wonders of the wild!

“I am an engineer by profession, but spend all my spare time on wildlife and nature photography. Living in the most crowded part of The Netherlands is not the most ideal location for a nature photographer, but luckily there are a few nature reserves close to my home.
Since 2009 I have spend most of my time in a 3000 hectare nature reserve along the coast. It has a large population of Fallow Deer, Roe Deer, Foxes and birds. Because the reserve is just a short drive from my house I can spend a lot time on a subject and keep returning to get a good understanding of their behavior.
Mammals are my biggest passion and they get the most attention. In spring my attention usually shifts to Grebe’s and waders. It is great to see how much time and devotion those birds have for nurturing their young.
Plus lying along the water’s edge in the spring sun is not too bad at all; sometimes nature photography can be quite relaxing. Other times you have to walk through deep snow, endure rain and cold just to get a glimpse of an animal. Unsure if you will return with the image you had in mind. This uncertainty is something I like; you never know what will happen.
